Tras un verano movido con Afrobasket, FIBA Américas y ahora Eurobasket de por medio, la NBA está a la vuelta de la esquina. Tan cerca que el próximo 1 de octubre comenzará el curso para los Sacramento Kings de Mike Malone.
Esta nueva e ilusionante etapa con Vivek Ranadivé al mando de las operaciones y sin hermanos Maloof en el mando por primera vez en casi dos décadas, los Kings se pondrán en marcha en apenas 10 días. El destino elegido ha sido la ciudad californiana de Santa Barbara donde el equipo entrenará durante toda la semana. Tendrán seis días para preparar la temporada y también los siete partidos de preparación que jugaran los siguientes días.
Debutará, el día 7, Malone ante Golden State Warriors en Oakland, su anterior equipo y ciudad para después viajar hasta Las Vegas donde los Kings se enfrentarán a Los Ángeles Lakers el día 10. Tras estos dos primeros partidos, los Kings viajarán hasta Sacramento donde jugarán otros dos choques contra Los Ángeles Clippers el día 14 y contra Phoenix Suns el 17. Cerrarán la preparación con un partido en Portland el día 20 frente a los Trail Blazers, recibiendo a los Warriors en Sacramento el día 23 y frente a los Clippers el día 25 en el Staples Center.
Hasta el momento se conoce el nombre de 17 jugadores que formarán parte del mismo. Entre ellos se encuentran los 14 hombres que tienen contrato más tres invitados que pelearán por el puesto final: Trent Lockett, CJ Aiken y DeQuan Jones. Tanto Lockett como Aiken formaron parte del equipo de los Kings en la Summer League de Las Vegas con un buen rendimiento. El escolta firmó 7'6 puntos en 20 minutos además de una gran labor defensiva, mientras que el interior 4'6 puntos, 2'6 rebotes y 0'8 tapones en 14 minutos en pista.
Además, será una buena ocasión para reunir al cuerpo técnico al completo, con Malone a la cabeza, acompañado por sus cinco ayudantes: Brendan Malone, Chris Jent, Dee Brown, Corliss Williamson, Micah Nori y Ryan Bowen.

will be on the sandy beaches of Santa Barbara, CA. Camp will run from
Oct. 1-6 at the Pavilion Gym on the University of California, Santa
Barbara campus.
The team will head back to Northern California for their pre-season opener on the road against the Golden State Warriors on October 7, before heading to Las Vegas to take on the Lakers on Oct. 10.
After the initial week away, the Kings will continue camp in Sacramento at the team’s practice facility in Natomas.
